My Story

Meet The Mighty Finn! Finn was diagnosed with Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia on April 7, 2004 when he was 17 months old. What started as a routine trip to the pediatrician because we thought he had a skin rash, turned into a nightmare. Within hours we knew that Finn had leukemia. Within 24 hours Finn started a regime of chemotherapy that would ultimately last 3 1/2 years. After an initial hospital stay following his diagnosis, Finn also contracted meningitis--something the infectious disease doctors had only seen once in 30 years in a leukemia patient. So while the road hasn't always been smooth, we are well aware of how lucky we have been. So many families we have met don't have the survival rate statistics on their side like we do. And we've had the support of our amazing family and friends. Finn took his last dose of chemo on August 5, 2007. No more spinal taps, no more chemo, no more steroids! 2017 marked 10 years off treatment for Finn! He is now a healthy, happy college student and has been shaving his head for St. Baldrick's since he was in 1st grade. Thank you for supporting St. Baldrick's!
