My Story

UPDATE:  I have been done with all my treatment since December 23, 2015.  We have been living in Hawaii for 3 years now and I love it.  I am doing good in 2nd grade and found my new love for snorkeling and ice skating.  I go every 3 months for checkups and things are great.  This year (2018) I am shaving my head to help raise money for St. Baldrick's.  I know how the kids feel going through treatment and I want to help kids.
Hi my name is Izzabella and this is my story.  On October 17, 2013 I was rushed from my doctors to Maine Med in Portland, Maine via ambulance. Once there blood work began and bags of blood were hung. In 24 hours time I had 3 units of blood and 1 bag of platelets just so I could have a bone marrow test done. On October 18, 2013 my bone marrow test was done and the results came back, ALL and over 99% cancer in my marrow. On October 21 I received my port, my first LP and my first round of cancer. It was and interesting first week but the doctors were happy with how I was doing and sent me home earlier than expected. However that was short lived by a battle with e-coil, A.K.A. Food poisoning. So my mom, dad and me spent 14 days in the hospital so I could recover. I did really good with my treatments and taking my med. I had a few fevers and a few overnight since then but nothing to bad until February 4, 2014. I had a reaction to my LP chemo treatment sending me into a seizure like state but 2 days in the PICU and a new anti seizure med and I was back home. I am a happy go lucky kid who gets to do a lot. This does not stop me from anything except going overseas. My dad is in the US Navy and we had orders to Japan. Once I got sick the orders got canceled so I could do most of my treatment here. When I get done with phase 2 and move into maintenance phase we get to travel and live in Hawaii and I can't wait. Cause right now my favorite thing to do is be outside and roller skate and living here that is not possible right now.
I want to thank you all for your support and wishes. Love, Izzabella
