My Story

Violet is two years old, she is silly and tough, very smart and sassy, she loves babies, and Mickey Mouse, Disney Princesses, Elmo and her puppy. She was a perfect, healthy baby who was completely typical in development. At 16 months old around Christmas time we thought she had a stomach virus, as she was randomly vomiting with no fever, and acting otherwise normal, our pediatrician wanted to heir on the side of caution and have a brain scan performed as sometimes vomiting is a symptom of brain swelling or trauma. The scan revealed a massive brain tumor. She was diagnosed with Choroid Plexus Carcinoma, a VERY rare and aggressive form of brain cancer. To say we were devastated was an understatement. Within 24 hours of diagnosis she underwent a 16 hour neurosurgery to remove the tumor from her brain. She has undergone 5 intense rounds of chemotherapy. She is our only child, and she wasn't a wanted child, she was a needed child:) She continues to amaze us everyday with her strength and love. Thank you for supporting me and the more than 300,000 kids worldwide who will be diagnosed with cancer this year. By sharing the gifts of your time, talent and money with the St. Baldrick’s Foundation, you're supporting research to give all kids with cancer a better chance for a cure.
