My Story

After being told by Doctors for 8 months that Mackenna's pain in her leg was just growing pains and to not worry about it, we were finally seen by a pediatritian who, before doing anything send Mackenna for an x-ray. It was that single x-ray that began our journey with Ewings Sarcoma. A simple x-ray that could have been done months earlier. I was angry and scared. Mackenna being young and happy didn't really realize what this meant for her. I thank the stars for that. Mackenna went through 6 chemotherapy treatments, then at Christmas was off to Toronto Sick kids for limb saving surgery. Home again for 6 more Chemo treatments. Mackenna has been doing amazing since she has finished treatment. Mackenna is a busy 10 year old with many goals and ambitions. Mackenna has taught me many things through this journey and I will be forever greatful that I am her Mom. Thank you for supporting me and the more than 300,000 kids worldwide who will be diagnosed with cancer this year. By sharing the gifts of your time, talent and money with the St. Baldrick’s Foundation, you're supporting research to give all kids with cancer a better chance for a cure.
