My Story

Erik achieved remission in December of 2010 and completed treatment in January of 2014.  He was slow to gain weight at first, but now is growing taller and starting to fill out a little bit. Erik has made new friends with other cancer kids and teens he has met at the Mayo clinic, St. Mary's Hospital, and our support group Brighter Tomorrows. Not only does he shave his head for St. Baldrick's, but he has also become a participant in the Relay For Life of Fillmore County, and he wants to "paint our town gold" this September during Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.  Erik has decided to become a nurse so he can work with sick kids and help keep them entertained while they're in the hospital.  I guess God has a way of directing our paths and influencing our choices based on what we have overcome.
