My Story

Jiselle was the youngest of three Arrington kids, the baby of her family, and the only girl. Her amazing courage, attitude, and resolve were the inspiration for the book "Elle’s Silly Hats." She was only 8-months-old when we received the news she had cancer. She and her brothers were healthy children, suddenly one doctor visit led to another (based on our suspicions), and after two-weeks of misdiagnosis she was diagnosed with Infant Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. She was strong and graceful throughout her two-years of treatments. She was in remission, but suffered severe chemotherapy complications--as a result all of 2010 she was hospitalized, but stable. Suddenly Sunday morning her counts dropped (two weeks short of her completing treatment), waiting painful moment-by painful moment for her to get better she passed Monday, Sept 13, 2010, about 4:55pm. She loved giving kisses, outdoor adventures (rockets), and playing with her brothers. Some of her favorite things were Elmo, ponies, puppies, baseball, the beach, the movie "Surf's Up," spending time with her grandparents (especially her Papa), and making new friends.
