My Story

Nathan was diagnosed with leukemia at age 2-1/2 and fought the valiant fight until shortly after his "golden" birthday at age 5. He had those warm brown eyes, wonderful red-hair and a smile and patience that saw him through many spinal taps, bone marrow biopsies as well as long hospital stays at University of Iowa hospital in Iowa City, Iowa. He left behind two sisters, his parents, grandparents and many, many family and community friends. The entire community felt they were family to Nathan and his funeral was attended by over 800 people. He has sent us rainbows many, many times over as a reminder that he is okay and enjoying Heaven. He also sends the red cardinal to chirp away until getting our attention to make us stop and reflect on his amazing five years.
