My Story

Sofia is a beautiful girl who lost her left eye to retinoblastoma. She was diagnosed right before her 2nd birthday and spent almost a year as part of a medical study for Intra-Arterial Chemotherapy (IAC) treatments. The treatment was not successful in saving her eye, but we are grateful for the advances in medicine that allowed our little girl to win the fight for her life. We pray that future studies for retinoblastoma will bring hope and healing to kids and their families. Today Sofia keeps up with the spunkiest of kids! With the help of an amazing prosthetic, most people would never know her eye is missing or that this girl is made of steel refined by fire. She reminds me everyday that when you hear the word 'cancer' there is still hope!
