My Story

In February 2010, Ian started to have unexplained nosebleeds. His pediatrician was concerned enough to send us to the emergency room where we met with the pediatric hematology/oncology physicians. Ian was diagnosed on February 9, 2010, with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL), and started treatment immediately. He went into remission in March 2010, and is currently in maintenance treatment. Ian has been a very resilient and tough kid. Somehow he managed to have minimal side effects from his chemotherapies. Although he missed a few days of school, he kept on going with the support of his teachers and classmates. He had a wonderful time at Camp Sunrise in September, 2010, where he got to go swimming and horsebackriding, and on his first hayride! Unfortunately, he also got his first bee sting as well. Ian is pretty much back to his normal self- doing puzzles, playing with cars, watching movies, and antagonizing his 9 year-old sister, Thalia. He plans on becoming a wrestler or a ninja when he grows up!
