My Story

After a 9+ month effort to determine the cause of random fevers, Kate was diagnosed in early January, 2011 with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. While she responded extremely well to the initial stages of chemotherapy, her treatment has been complicated by a number of factors, including a clot in her brain that may or may not be a side effect of her treatment. Despite repeated hospitalizations and setbacks, Kate has impressed everyone with her wit, intelligence, and amazing attitude throughout her treatment. She's even used hospitalization as an opportunity to increase her vocabulary, and now incorporates "trimethoprim-sulfamethoxasole" and "methemaglobinemia" into everyday conversation. In the US, more children die of childhood cancer than any other disease. Please make a donation on my behalf to support childhood cancer research so that all children diagnosed with cancer will have a better chance for a cure.To make a donation, click on "Make A Donation" or donate by mail or phone.Thank you for your support!
