My Story

Nolan Megonigal was born 9 minutes before his identical twin brother, Calvin. He & Calvin were born on the day that Michael Phelps won his 8th gold medal in the 2008 Summer Olympics. In fact, we pleaded with the nurses to allow us to watch the race before heading to the OR to begin pushing! Nolan's life was full of BIG memories from the second of his birth. Nolan's older sister, Avery, passed away the year before his birth. Her life ended following a battle with Infant ALL. Because Nolan was Baby A of our twins, he was given his sister's namesake as his middle name. We NEVER wished for Nolan to also make history in being the first, non-identical sibling to be diagnosed with Infant ALL. Nolan was diagnosed at 4 months & passed away at 7 months. He battled, we battled, his medical team battled, but his little heart was not strong enough to survive the chemotherapy necessary to keep his cancer at bay. We miss him terribly & hold tight to his memorable life.
