My Story

Joey started having increased clumsiness and falling early in 2010. We were referred for physical and occupational therapy to work on some of these issues. He developed a hand tremor, which led us to a referral for an MRI. Joey was diagnosed with a medulloblastoma, a type of brain tumor on Monday, July 12. He had surgery to remove the tumor on Friday July 16th. He has completed radiation and concurrent chemotherapy and is currently undergoing 9 cycles of chemotherapy. If all goes as planned, he will complete his treatments by fall of 2011. Through this all, Joey has maintained a great attitude and love of life. He loves to play with his brother and play video games. Playing sports was always one of his favorite activities, but the surgery and therapies have made that difficult. Joey doesn't seem to mind too much and just asks if he can play again when he is all better from treatment. He loves to watch any sport on TV, but his favorite team is the Cincinnati Reds. Joey's amazing spirit and handsome smile keep us all inspired to cherish every day.
