My Story

Brett was the perfect first child. He was a loving big brother to his younger siblings. He had a lot of faith in God. He was a daddy's boy. He loved Duke University. Thomas and Spiderman were two of his favorite shows. Brett was 7 when his original diagnosis of ALL was made on January 16, 2008. He went through chemo and went into remission. He was maintained while we waited for his newborn brother to get big enough to be his donor for a bone marrow transfusion at Duke University Children's Hospital on August 26, 2008. After his transfusion he was sent back into the hands of the doctors at Brenner in November. January 29, 2009 Brett relapsed and fought his cancer until March 14, 2009. He "flew to Jesus" while at home surrounded by his family and close friends. While his life was short it was lived to the fullest. His story touched the lives of many and still touches lives today. I love and miss my "Buddy Boy".
