My Story

Marenna is the youngest of four children. She was diagnosed with bilateral (both kidneys) Wilms' Tumor when she was 7 months old. She had surgery and chemotherapy, completing treatment in July 2006. In April 2008, the cancer was back. This time, she had surgery, radiation and chemotherapy. Since November 2008, she has been off-treatment and has no evidence of disease. She continues to be scanned every 4 months for recurrence. Now, Marenna is 5 years old. She is about to enter kindergarten and can't wait. She enjoys playing with her big brother and sisters, singing, coloring, and being a normal kid. We are, however, convinced that just as Peter Parker was bitten by a radioactive spider and became Spider-Man, the combination of chemotherapy and radiation have given "Renna" superpowers. Her alter-ego is the superhero Super Froggy Girl and she fights the bad guys by hopping on them. And ribbitting.
