My Story

Prior to his diagnosis in late January 2010, Hansen was a healthy, high school senior who liked playing football and hanging out with his friends. He was making plans to graduate, attend college, and move on with the next phase of life. Then, came the phone call no one would ever want. "Your son has acute lymphoblastic leukemia, and we need to get him into treatment as soon as possible." Three months into his treatment, we see a young man who is still ready move on with the next phase of his life ... just slightly delayed. Hansen is responding to the treatments just as the doctors are expecting. He's anxious to re-join his friends at school, to get back into a gym, and to make a final college decision. The treatments haven't been easy, but he (and our entire family) has seen an outpouring of love and support like we couldn't imagine from family, friends and our community, and that has helped all of us through the beginning of this journey.
2016 UPDATE: Hansen completed treatment in 2014, and is currently finishing up his degree at Towson University.
