My Story

I'm volunteering to raise funds for the cause! Help me meet my goal, Donate Here My name is Koreena. At the age of three (Oct. 2000), I was diagnosed with ALL (Leukemia). After two and half years of treatment I was considered cured. Thanks to the treatments I received, I have led an active and normal childhood. I had no side effects that affected my grades allowing me to be a good student. In addition, I was healthy enough to be a competitive swimmer; swimming about 10 hours a week. Then in the summer of 2009, I started feeling as though I had no energy. It was all down hill from there. It even got to the point that I didn’t want to swim anymore! At school, I was going to the nurses’ office more and more often and no one knew why. Some people even thought I was faking it. My mom started to worry about me took me to the doctor. No one seemed to be able to find anything wrong. After many different doctors, I was re-diagnosed on Dec. 22, 2009. That meant I was in the hospital on Christmas and my 13th birthday-- That stunk! I am now under treatment at Dell Children Medical Center. I am feeling a lot better even though I can’t go to school or swim anymore. As soon as I’m better, I’ll be back!
