My Story

Bryant was 6 years old and had just completed kindergarten with perfect attendance for an entire school year, when suddenly diagnosed with Stage 3 Non Hodgkins Lymphoma. Bryant endured 2 years of constant chemotherapy which included several trips to Seattle for treatments.Bryant lost his hair a few times as a result of chemo and Instead of getting upset, he learned to tie fishing flies with it. Bryant always managed to make fun out of any event, being stuck in the hospital quite a few times never stopped him from having fun. Bryant loved crafts and would frequently be seen using the hospitals paint spinner to create art for his hospital room. While in Seattle Bryant missed being outside, so he figured out how to bring the outside in, he was able to tie his IV pole to his scooter, strap on a helmet and ride up and down the hallways!! Bryant was full of energy and had a huge love of the outdoors (he actually loved to shovel snow!) , animals and of course John Deere. All throughout Bryant's cancer journey he remained upbeat and determined to live his life to the fullest. Bryant created a science fair project titled " How to be a Cancer Survivor" and won best of show in 1st grade, it was very important to him to explain cancer to others. Currently his report is on display at Providence Hosp, in the Peds Oncology center. Bryant also received his wish through Make A Wish, he went to Moline Illinois to get an upclose and very personal tour of the John Deere Factory, he commented while in Moline that he thought every kid should be able to have their wish come true, and not have to be sick to get it. Bryant was just a kind hearted kid who understood what life was all about. Bryant is missed by so many, as Bryant's mom I feel so blessed that I got to be Bryant's mom, I will forever carry him in my heart and my hope is that others will be inspired by Bryant's life. Thank you to all participating in St. Baldricks.
