My Story

On November 21, 2008 Rachel was diagnosed and was later confirmed to have retinoblastoma in her right eye at 4 mos of age. She received six chemotherapy sessions every 28 days ending in April 2009. In addition she started having eye exams under anesthesia (EUAs) every 4 weeks. The chemotherapy shrunk and calcified her tumor and as of this date, she has had no new developments in either eye! Rachel continues to be monitored by her doctors and progressed to only in-office eye exams at Ann & Robert H. Lurie's Children's Hospital. We are very grateful for her pediatrician thru Northshore University Healthsystems who caught her tumor and all the exceptional care she has received at Ann & Robert H. Lurie's Children's Hospital. We are especially thankful for all the love and support we have received from all of our family and friends thru it all!
