My Story

Nathan was born on June 5, 2005. One week later, his parents learned he had Down Syndrome and they began a journey they had not anticipated. He became very ill in November 2008 and had a tracheostomy placed. Nate improved, the trach was removed on June 29, 2009. Then, on July 7, 2009, their journey took a heart breaking turn when Nate was diagnosed with ALL (Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia pre B Cell). Nate's port was placed on July 9th and he began chemotherapy. Nate took his last chemo dose in November 2013. Since then Nate's blood counts remain normal with no sign of relapse. Nate is a very sweet, smart and happy boy. He loves to play, watch videos and spend time with his family and friends. He is loved beyond belief and his smile will melt your heart. Children with Down Syndrome are at higher risk of developing ALL and AML (leukemia). 1 out of 95 children with Down Syndrome will develop this terrible disease. Please help us support research to find a cure so that beautiful children like Nate will not have to suffer anymore. Thank you for your donation!
