My Story

Payton was born a very healthy 8lb 7oz on 9/16/07. At 8 months old we noticed some problems and took him to his pediatrician. They did an ultrasound and immediately sent us to the Bi-Lo Children's Charity Cancer Center at Greenville Hospital System. On May 14, 2008 Payton was diagnosed with Stage 3 intermediate Neuroblastoma. He had his first surgery on 5/16/07 to remove part of the tumor from his spinal column. He then underwent 6 rounds of chemotherapy and 2 more surgeries. As of August 6, 2009, Payton is in remission. He now is receiving therapy to get full strength in his right leg due to nerve damage from the cancer. Payton is a very social and active 2 year old. He loves monster trucks, boats and cars. He loves his older brother JD who is 10. He loves his Mimi's sweet tea and spending time with his grandparents. Looking at him, you would never believe all he's been through. His personality is unlike anyone else. Update 2013 Payton is still in remission, however he did have another surgery on 12/17/12 for a tethered cord. We pray that any of the nerve damage he has will come back.
