My Story

Shayla was our miracle! In October of 2008 our world was turned upside down with the diagnosis of stage IV Neuroblastoma - a type of cancer we had never heard of. She underwent 7 rounds of chemotherapy, surgery to remove a tumor, bone marrow transplant, radiation and antibody treatment to help prevent the regrowth of the cancer in her cute, little body. Shayla had a smile that lit up a room! She loved playing with her sister and friends and just about anyone else that she crossed paths with! She liked to pretend she was a nurse and give shots or place IVs! Her favorite toy was any of her baby dolls! She was beginning to write her name and identify letters and numbers! As for dislikes, she did not enjoy all of the medicine and shots! Otherwise she was a pure joy!
