My Story

Dylan was a 14 year old boy from Galway, NY. He was diagnosed on Friday, June 29, 2007 with a massive brain tumor. The tumor was removed on Friday, July 6, 2007. Dr.'s Waldman and Emmrich performed the surgery. It was a lengthy procedure and he pulled through it great. He recovered from the surgery in the PICU at Albany Med for 5 days. Dylan's tumor was partially attached to his motor skills. Due to the sensitive area a spaghetti like string was left with hopes that the radiation and chemo would shrink it. The tumor was sent to the lab where the pathologist reported that he had a mixed tumor; A high-grade Astrocytoma/Glioblastoma, a stage 4 cancer. The protocol for this type of tumor is a phase II study of concurrent radiation and temozolomide followed by temozolomide and lomustine (CCNU). He was treated at The Children's Hospital at Albany Med, Pediatric Oncology/Hemotology, he had a great team of doctors and nurses. This was a long tough road for Dylan and we just want him to know how proud we are of him how much he is loved and miss him. He was a boy that had lot to complain about but never said boo.
