My Story

I am an ALL survivor and mother to a beautiful daughter, Sophie, whom i was told would never be possible. At age 12, my whole world changed and I was forced to endure things most will never know in an entire lifetime. After 2.5 years of chemo and radiation, I was finally done with treatment! One of the hardest things, as vain as it sounds, was losing my hair...twice. Just as we moved to a new state with a new school (middle school at that!), my hair fell out. Again. In case you were homeschooled, let me tell you. Middle schoolers are mean. Especially to the new, bald, sick kid. So when i heard about St Baldricks and their crazy head shaving events in 2007 in Ventura CA, i was so in!! And by 2009, i had worked up the courage and the excitement to shave my head to show these kids they are not alone.  Its not so bad being bald! I continued my work with St Baldricks by becoming a VEO  and starting a new event in every city the Navy put us! Virginia Beach, Waynesville, MO, and now, Gulfport, MS. Here along the gulf coast, i have been able to make huge strides for childhood cancer awareness along side my hardworking team and our amazing community. Gulf coast st baldricks now has multiple events throughout the year, local pd have put yellow ribbons on their cars, buildings light up gold every september, celebrities and large corporations have become major supporters, and so much more! I've also joined the alliance for childhood cancer to fight for these kids on the coast and kids everywhere, and hope to someday have a childrens hospital here on the gulf coast. Gulf Coast St Baldricks is continually looking for volunteer activities within the cancer awareness community and hopes to find a cure for this horrible disease. Let's Rock The Bald and conquer Kid's cancer!
