My Story

Gabriella was diagnosed when she was 2 months old with a tumor in the tongue. Doctors originally believed that she had an abnormal cyst forming inside her tongue. After close examinations, doctors diagnosed the formation to be Primitive Myxoid Mesenchymal Tumor of Infancy. She has been going in for chemotherapy treatments since she has been 7 months old, has had 2 biopsies performed, and many MRI's taken to monitor the tumor. She has undergone 1 surgery which took out 95% of her tumor before chemo was suggested. The 5% left began to grow rapidly. Doctors are now watching the tumor with a close eye to see if it grows. She will need another surgery in the near future to take out the remaining tumor. Primitive Myxoid Mesenchymal Tumor of Infancy is a cancerous mass found in soft tissue. She is the 7th case known in the world having this rare tumor. According to the American Journal of Surgical Pathology, they believe that PMMTI is a new category of pediatric fibroblastic-myofibroblastic tumor. Gabby has the love and care of her parents, Rachel Fischer, 23 & Gabe Tuono, 27, great-grandmothers, grandparents, aunts and friends to help her stay strong. Please keep Gabriella in your prayers!
