My Story

Jesse is a great spirited kid and very talented at playing the guitar. In the past he was a member of the band AutoCliche, voted number one band in Mt. Olive, and after that a member of Falls First Fire where he was lead and back up vocals, as well as lead guitar. Jesse is also in Advance Placment classes at school. Jesse was first diagnosed with Wilms Tumor at the age of 16 yrs and 8 mo. It is very rare for someone of his age to have Wilms Tumor. Therefore, there is not alot of information regarding treatment for this age group. His tumor was discovered, by accident, when he fell while snowboarding. This apparently agitated the tumor and caused him pain in his lower back. Otherwise, Jesse had no symptoms. If it wasn't for this fall, who knows how long the tumor would have gone undetected and untreated. (Jesse has always had an angel on his shoulder.) The tumor covered 80% of his left kidney and was also wrapped into the kidney vein. Surgery was performed to remove his left kidney and part of the kidney vein. Pathology showed that it was a Stage II, Favorable tumor. The first plan of treatment for Jesse was to receive 2 chemo drugs once a week for 19 weeks. After much consideration regarding his age, it was decided that he would need more aggressive treatment. Another chemo drug and 12 days of radiation were added immediately. Jesse is being treated by a fabulous group of oncologists at Morristown Memorial Hospital in Morristown, New Jersey.
