I was diagnosed with leukemia when I was 6 years old.I didn’t really understand what cancer meant at first. I just knew I was sick, I was in the hospital a lot, and my life suddenly became doctors, needles, chemo, and being away from home.I missed school. I missed birthdays. I missed time with my family. I lost a lot of my childhood to cancer.I had complications that made it hard to walk, broke bones, dealt with infections, and spent way too much time in hospitals. But I kept going.Then, after years of fighting, my cancer came back.I had to go through even more treatment and eventually a bone marrow transplant. I’m still dealing with what cancer and treatment have done to my body, but I’m here.I’m 12 now.I’m not just cancer. I’m a kid who likes drawing, video games, anime, Pokémon, music, and bugs. I like laughing and being around the people I love. I just want to be a normal kid.I never asked for cancer. No kid does.That’s why I want to help make sure other kids don’t have to lose their childhood to this disease.I’m still here. I’m still fighting. And I’m still Liam.
