My Story

In December, our lives changed forever. What we thought was just pain in William’s leg turned into every parent’s worst nightmare. After multiple tests, we heard the words no family is ever prepared for: our son had Stage 4 diffuse large B-cell lymphoma. The weeks that followed were filled with hospital rooms, biopsies, scans, surgeries, chemotherapy, and countless unknowns. We spent Christmas wondering what the future would hold instead of celebrating the way we had planned. We watched our sweet boy endure more than any child ever should, yet he continued to smile, encourage others, and trust God through it all. There were days filled with fear, tears, and exhaustion. There were moments when we questioned why this was happening, but we never questioned who was walking beside us. God carried us through every hospital stay, every chemotherapy treatment, every scan, and every difficult conversation. He surrounded us with an incredible village who prayed, loved, encouraged, and stood beside our family when we couldn’t stand on our own. After months of chemotherapy, prayers, and unwavering faith, William’s scans showed no evidence of active lymphoma. Every good report reminded us that God is still in the business of miracles. Our journey wasn’t over. Follow-up MRIs later showed areas that needed more testing, bringing back the fear we knew so well. Once again, we turned to prayer. A PET scan confirmed those areas were not active cancer, and we celebrated another answered prayer. Today, William is in remission. He rang the bell, returned to school, and is getting back to being a kid again. While cancer may always be a part of our story, it will never define our son. His story is one of courage, resilience, hope, and the faithfulness of God. If there’s one thing this journey has taught us, it’s that God never leaves us. Even in the darkest moments, He was there. We don’t know what tomorrow holds, but we know Who. “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” – Hebrews 13:5
