At 11 years old, I was diagnosed with chondroblastic osteosarcoma in 2024. Since then, I have endured more than most people face in a lifetime.
I underwent a left hemi-pelvectomy, resulting in the removal of my left pelvis and leg in an effort to save my life. Since then, the cancer has repeatedly metastasized to both lungs, returning three separate times. I have undergone multiple thoracotomies, cryoablation procedures, proton radiation therapy, and intensive chemotherapy including the MAP protocol (methotrexate, cisplatin, and doxorubicin). Even now, cancer remains in my lungs, and my family and I are urgently working toward getting me strong enough for additional chemotherapy and potential clinical trials.
Beyond the cancer itself, I have battled devastating complications including chronic osteomyelitis, a severe non-healing wound, multiple revision surgeries, wound vac therapy, hyperbaric oxygen treatments, IV antibiotics, skin grafts, weekly wound care appointments, and countless painful procedures. I also require around-the-clock care for basic daily needs. I am learning how to walk in my prosthetic leg too. Before cancer, I was full of life. I loved dancing in the living room, riding bikes with friends, playing outside, shopping with mom, and spending time with family. Today, I spend most of my days recovering from surgeries, attending appointments, taking medications around the clock, and facing the emotional weight of hearing “the cancer is back” over and over again. Yet through it all, I continue to fight. Even after unimaginable pain, I still tell mom, “We’ve got this.” I try to provide strength, humor, honesty, and spirit to inspire everyone around me.
Thank you for supporting me and the more than 300,000 kids worldwide who will be diagnosed with cancer this year. By sharing the gifts of your time, talent and money with the St. Baldrick's Foundation, you're supporting research to give all kids with cancer a better chance for a cure.
