Hello, my name is Miranda I am Sophia’s mom! Her story starts in 2024 when she was constantly in and out of the hospital dealing with severe constipation. We had seen many doctors and had her on different medications but nothing was working. February 11th, 2025 Sophia’s stomach was very large and I had noticed a lump on her right side of her abdomen. When we took her to the hospital we thought it was just the usual needing a bowel clean out. Unfortunately, that was not that case this time. Sophia’s scans showed that she had stage 5 bilateral Wilms tumors on her kidneys. We started treatments right away and when I tell you Sophia was the strongest girl I truly mean that. Sophia was only 5 years old at the time and she truly conquered this. There were many hospital stays, many tears but there was even more smiles and laughter. Sophia is such a cheerful little girl and just lights up and room she is in. We have the best support team from family and friends to our amazing care team at Akron children’s hospital. We can proudly say that Sophia is currently in remission at this time after a long one year battle with cancer. She continues to shine brightly and fill the room with laughter. Thank you for reading our story!
Thank you for supporting me and the more than 300,000 kids worldwide who will be diagnosed with cancer this year. By sharing the gifts of your time, talent and money with the St. Baldrick’s Foundation, you're supporting research to give all kids with cancer a better chance for a cure.
