Alicia was diagnosed in 2013. Where she started treatment right away. After a 139 day stay, because of an infection she developed, we had finally got to go home after beating the odds. She was declared cancer free. In 2014 she relapsed. The cancer was back. Two days before thanksgiving. So back we went for more treatment. She had her first Bone Marrow Transplant. Her big brother didn’t hesitate and gave to her. Afterwards she was doing so good. Started living life. Graduated high school, got a job, started college. She wanted to be an oncology nurse. She wanted to help and take care of kids like her. Then August of 2018 here we were again in a fight for her life as she relapsed again. This time we went with an outside donor. But her body started rejecting her new donor. Graft Versus Host disease came full force. Was no stopping it. She went into Septic shock and I lost her at 9:46pm on April 24,2019. I follow and pray for every single child every single day. I know my baby girl is meeting each and everyone of them that she sees walk through those golden gates and makes sure they aren’t alone. I’m a broken hearted mom. Thank you St Baldricks for everything you do to help every child and parent through the journey.
