In March 2025 our family’s world was flipped upside down. He is an active kid that loves football and was gearing up to start his rugby season. Within 15 min of the first practice his leg gave out and then he had a fall. There were other concerning things we picked up on the weeks before and it all pieced together in that moment at practice that this was neurological. While waiting for a neurology consult, our chiropractor did a full eval and noticed many upper motor neuron concerns triggering the need for an MRI. Wish the rest was history but it is a difficult reality. Days later we got his final diagnosis of an inoperable brainstem Pilocytic Astrocytoma that extends down his cervical spinal cord. The wait was agonizing to hear that final diagnosis. The emotional pain was physically unbearable at times and still remains a struggle knowing our son has cancer. We are so thankful for the “good” news we did receive and that a treatment option is available for his tumor’s genetic make up. He has a long road of unknowns ahead but he is strong and resilient and we continue to hope and pray for healing for him. He has regained his mobility back through PT and he is back to playing football. Thank you for supporting Chase and the more than 300,000 kids worldwide who will be diagnosed with cancer this year. By sharing the gifts of your time, talent and money with the St. Baldrick’s Foundation, you're supporting research to give all kids with cancer a better chance for a cure.
