My Story

Fischer was always the happiest kid. And from the time he was a baby, we knew he was a fighter. From surgery at 9 weeks old on his intestines to a broken leg at 15 months to a broken wrist October of 2021, he handled all his challenges so effortlessly. When Fischer was diagnosed with leukemia in November of 2020 at 4 years old, our world was rocked, shaken, flipped upside down. But not Fischer's. You would never guess the boy was sick. He was always so resilient in the face of chemo, surgery, pills; all the challenges that go along with that kind of diagnosis, none of it phased him. Even as the leukemia spread throughout his body and he spent his final weeks living in a hospital, he found his joy in riding his bike and watching for airplanes. I firmly believe that it was his childlike faith in Jesus that was truly sustaining him. Fischer prayed to receive Jesus into his heart the summer he turned 4 but even before he fully understood the commitment he was making, Jesus was a part of his life. He hid God's word in his heart and loved to sing praise to his creator (he loved to sing other songs, too). He learned to pray in all seasons and truly had a heart for others. It was his desire to spread kindness so that others could see Jesus through him. Even though Fischer's time on earth is finished, we ask that you find a small way to keep his legacy alive. You could donate blood, plant some seeds, give a hug or a smile. But his greatest joy would be to know that his story made a difference in someone's life. That they were inspired by his tenacity, charmed by his smile or saved because of his faith.
