My Story

Kimberlyn, better know as Kimmy, Kimmy cat or Claire Bear, was diagnosed with B-ALL in July of 2024. She is 9 now and is so close to the maintenance phase of treatment. She has been so brave through all the tests, procedures and hospital stays. She has the most kind heart and loving spirit. Kimmy's special dog, Angel, keeps her company on bad days and plays with her on good days. Kimmy was a very active girl before her diagnosis. She loved playing softball and cheerleading. She has remained hopeful that she will get back to her sports soon. Kimmy has overcome so much in the past year. She was scared of hospital stays and had nightmares at home. She overcame her fear with the help of the peds oncology psychologist's help. She would get upset when we pulled into the hospital parking garage from the fear of port access. Now, she is much better with access and no longer fearful of clinic visits. Kimmy's faith and love have kept her strong and she is getting better ever day. Her immediate family, step-parents, and extended family have all pulled together to support Kimmy and help her on this difficult journey. We appreciate all the love and support we have received during this time. Kimmy has said she wants to be a pediatric oncology nurse when she grows up so she can help other children from her experience. Hopefully, by then, childhood cancer will not exist.
