My Story

Thank you for supporting me and the more than 300,000 kids worldwide who will be diagnosed with cancer this year. By sharing the gifts of your time, talent and money with the St. Baldrick’s Foundation, you're supporting research to give all kids with cancer a better chance for a cure. 2 days before I turned 8 my family got some horrible news. I had been having fevers everyday for almost 2 weeks. My doctor said I had a cold. Then we had to take a trip to the emergency room because my lymph nodes swelled up so much the doctor couldn’t see down my throat. They got the news that I had B cell ALL. My port was placed on my 8th birthday. I had an allergic reaction to calpeg- one of the chemos that was supposed to help me get better. The nurse had to use an epipen- it was scary for me and my parents. Instead I had to a series of 6 shots over 2 weeks. They hurt. I also got to have Blina- that’s a new immunotherapy. I had to have my port accessed for 28 days straight- twice! I lost my hair during delayed intensification- but my dad, my grandfather, and my uncle all shaved their heads with me so I didn’t feel alone. In March I finished frontline treatment and I’m now in maintenance. I’ve been back at school for over a month now. I hope one day they can destroy cancer.
