My Story

Thank you for supporting me and the more than 300,000 kids worldwide who will be diagnosed with cancer this year. By sharing the gifts of your time, talent and money with the St. Baldrick’s Foundation, you're supporting research to give all kids with cancer a better chance for a cure. Riley’s Story Riley is a bright, kind, and courageous 9-year-old girl with a heart full of joy. In December 2024, Riley began experiencing symptoms that led to the discovery of a 4.4 cm brain tumor on the right side of her cerebellum, pressing dangerously onto to her brainstem. After further evaluation and a biopsy, she was diagnosed with pilocystic astrocytoma driven by a BRAF gene mutation. The news was life-altering for our family. Suddenly, our world shifted from playdates and school projects to MRIs, tumor boards, and treatment plans. Despite the fear and uncertainty, Riley has shown incredible strength, meeting every step of this journey with resilience and grace well beyond her years. After extensive testing at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Riley was accepted into a groundbreaking research study (SJ901)—a clinical trial designed to target the specific mutation in her tumor. This trial offers a promising new path: a targeted oral treatment with fewer side effects and a high potential for tumor shrinkage. We relocated temporarily to St. Jude, where she was being closely monitored. We now travel back and forth between home and TN for treatment. Riley continues to smile, laugh, and dream big through it all. She loves art, animals, and spending time with her family. We are incredibly proud of her bravery and determination. As her parents, we are committed to doing everything we can to ensure Riley receives the best care, comfort, and support. We’re sharing her story to raise awareness, find support, and help other families walking a similar path. We are grateful beyond words for the love and kindness shown to us. Thank you for being part of Riley’s journey.
