My Story
Isaac was diagnosed at age 15 with ALL. He is an intelligent young man and enjoys playing DnD and Halo with his friends. He is Life rank in Boy Scouts. His faith is very important to him, and he aspires to be a Catholic Priest. He is receiving treatment 150 miles from his home which he says has been the hardest part so far. Isaac was sick with a cold for the whole summer of 2024. He would get a little better and then spend a week in bed because he was so tired. He spent the summer working on his hiking merit badge hiking 10 miles at a time but needed so so many breaks. His dad and I really worried about him. By the end of summer, he was beginning to run with the cross country running team but felt frustrated he couldn’t keep up. Isaac had a rash reaction to antibiotics and ended up in the ER. The doctor drew labs and knew something was up. A little over a week later, Isaac was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. Because we do not live near his treating hospital, we have had to relocate for a year leaving dad and two brothers at home. Isaac only attended two days of his sophomore year in high school and is now homeschooled. He finds this hard and really misses his friends. Isaac has had difficulty with treatments including anaphylactic reactions to medications, an infected port that needed to be removed, and the usual cancer related fatigue. He has kept a positive attitude through it all.
Thank you for supporting Isaac and the more than 300,000 kids worldwide who will be diagnosed with cancer this year. By sharing the gifts of your time, talent and money with the St. Baldrick’s Foundation, you're supporting research to give all kids with cancer a better chance for a cure.
