My Story

Thank you for supporting me and the more than 300,000 kids worldwide who will be diagnosed with cancer this year. By sharing the gifts of your time, talent and money with the St. Baldrick’s Foundation, you're supporting research to give all kids with cancer a better chance for a cure. Carter is four years old. He has an older brother Brayden who is five and younger sister Brooklyn who is one. He was diagnosed with leukemia on 8/10/22. Carter was having an upset stomach for a while so we took him to the doctor to get some allergy tests as we thought he may have some food allergies. As we were eating dinner that night, his pediatrician called us on her personal cell phone and told us to bring him to the ER immediately. We had no idea why. After we made it to the ER, he was quickly transported via ambulance to the children’s hospital to the oncology floor. We were shocked that his allergy test revealed that he had leukemia. We were devastated. The first several months were brutal. I took a year off of work to care for Carter and attend all of his chemo trips. We traveled to Lurie’s Children’s Hospital in Chicago anywhere from 1-4 times per week for the first nine months after he was diagnosed. Carter is now doing great with treatment! He has no detectable cancer! We are done with frontline treatment and began maintenance in July 2023! This means less intense treatments and less trips to treatment. His official end of treatment is December 2024!
