My Story

Alexis is a fun loving 11 year old little girl. She loves to play with her brother and her two sisters. She also loves arts and crafts, baseball, playing at the park, and just generally being outside! Her favorite food is CHEESE and what kid doesn't LOVE soda! Alexis was only 11 months old when she was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML), 22 days later we had her 1st birthday party in the playroom at the hospital. She went through 6 months of chemotherapy only to be in remission for 10 short months. We found out on October 11, 2007 that she had relapsed. The only option we had was transplant. After a 3 month search, we found an unrelated donor, overseas. She received her transplant on February 7, 2008, and continues to improve everyday! She has been AML free for 9 years! God bless those angels sent from heaven who give so selflessly. In May 2010, she was diagnosed with thyroid cancer and underwent a complete thyroidectomy. She underwent Radioactive Iodine (RAI) treatment and has been thyca free for 7 years.
