Lucia was diagnosed with hepatoblastoma, a rare childhood liver cancer, when she was just 3 months old. In an instant, our world changed from enjoying life with our new baby to learning medical terms, spending months in the treatment, and praying for our daughter's life. Lucia underwent chemotherapy, followed by a major liver surgery that removed her tumor, her gallbladder, and a large portion of her liver. Her journey wasn't without complications, but through every challenge she showed incredible strength. She smiled through so many difficult days and reminded us what true courage looks like. Today, Lucia is in remission, and we are endlessly grateful for the doctors, nurses, researchers, donors, and organizations whose dedication made her recovery possible. While we celebrate this milestone, we know many children are still fighting battles like hers. We are sharing Lucia's story as an Honored Kid because every child deserves the chance to grow up.
