My Story

Leland was diagnosed on September 13, 2022 with intermediate risk neuroblastoma, he immediately started chemo & after 4 rounds his tumors went from 17 spots to 6 & his main tumor was able to be removed, 2 weeks after his surgery he was acting different so we took him in & found out he had tumor growth on his sphenoid bone in his face, this sadly made him get rediagnosed as high risk. After being rediagnosed he started a different type of chemo & that worked for 2 rounds & shrunk the tumor, when we rescanned we found that it started growing again & he became chemo resistant so we decided to start immunotherapy- 5 rounds of immunotherapy killed 5 tumors & shrunk the 1 in his head, a few months later he rescanned & it started to grow again so we moved down to San Diego for the month to start targeted therapy (radiation) in hopes that’ll break up & kill the cancer cells. Since being home he has started a new immunotherapy & we are staying positive that this is what he needs to be able to live a long, happy & healthy life. #LelandStrong Thank you for supporting me and the more than 300,000 kids worldwide who will be diagnosed with cancer this year.
