My Story

Jacob was diagnosed with medulloblastoma brain tumor in April 2005. He underwent surgery at Hope Children's Hospital to remove the tumor which was the size of a tennis ball. Another surgery followed 2 weeks later to place a shunt in his head and port-a-cath in his chest. Two weeks after being released from Hope, Jacob's follow-up treatment was transferred to the University of Chicago Comer Children's Hospital. Jacob's protocol was 54 weeks in duration, to include radiation and chemotherapy. Active treatment ended in June 2006, and he continues to be monitored on an annual basis through the University of Chicago's Long Term Pediatric Cancer Survivor's Program. While doing well at home and school, Jacob still requires a daily regimen of pills and injections to manage the effects of the cancer treatment he endured. Since the last St. Baldrick's events in 2017, Jacob has turned 20!! He is a sophomore in college and is interested in culinary arts. He loves to build models and drive an ATV. Thank you all for donating your time & money to help fund this worthy cause!
