My Story

Danae was diagnosed with AML when she was just 16 months old. This diagnosis flipped our happy little world completely upside down. It was the worst news we could ever receive, what does it mean, is my child going to die? I along with my husband were both panicked and scared out of our minds. Once treatment began, and we started learning about her type of leukemia, we had high hopes of her beating this awful disease. We knew from the start that it was not going to be easy nor was it a guarantee but we felt in our hearts that this monster was not going to steal our baby girl from us. We put our trust in God and in our oncology Dr's and as a team we all together were able to see the day when our sweet girl became healthy again. On January 3, 2007, we received the news we were praying for~ Danae is in REMISSION!! Danae is such a very happy child, and having down syndrome, she already has challenges in her life, we want to make sure she is able to experience all the wonderful things life has to offer. Danae loves music, really loves to dance, she loves school, her siblings, her friends and my birds Adam and Melodie, who she says are HER birds..lol. Danae is now 10 years old, she is growing so fast and learns so much daily. Danae is a very smart child and we are very blessed that even though our family had to go through this journey with our first daughter, we are so grateful that we still have her and get to experience life with her. We need the support of everyone in order to find a cure for childhood cancer so that no more children are stolen away by this monster called Cancer. Danae's favorite places to visit are the Fresno Chaffee Zoo and the Monterey Bay Aquarium. Danae loves all the animals on land and in water, she is such a beautful child with a heart of gold. Danae has just celebrated her 8th year in remission on January 3, 2015, we are very blessed to have her still here with us. We look forward to many more years of milestones with our Princess Danae. ~Team Danae The Explorer~
