My Story

Tegan took her last chemo pill on October 24,2013! 26 months, 11 days after her diagnosis. She is loving life as a cancer and chemo free kid! Tegan was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia on August 13,2011. She was 2.5 years old. She spent her preschool year, years of important development, knowing hospitals and pokes, doctors and nurses, bald heads and toxic chemos. She battled through high blood pressure and heart rate, endured a blood clot which required twice daily injections of blood thinners for 7 months, weight loss and weight gain, hair loss, growth, and loss again, difficulty walking and keeping her balance. She is a fighter, and she is so, so brave. She is my hero, my inspiration. She is a funny little girl. She loves drawing and coloring and being in grade 1. She likes to sing and dance and push her big sister's buttons. She is wildly energetic. She is 6, trying to make up for the "lost years", and she's 6, going on 16. She is amazing. And so, I honor her. And all the other kids in our small pediatric cancer clinic. We are a small clinic, but we are mighty, we are close, and our fighters are strong!!!
