My Story

We took our little love Stanley to a local hospital on Wednesday, December 16, 2015. He was drooling excessively and gagging, so we were concerned he may have swallowed something. After doing a routine exam and ordering Xrays, it was determine that his spleen was enlarged. More imaging and labs followed. By 5:30 am on Thursday, December 17, we were taken by ambulance to the Cleveland Clinic Children's Hospital. By the evening of Friday, December 18, Stanley was sleeping in my lap following surgery to place a Medi-port in his chest, a bone marrow draw, a spinal tap, and chemotherapy. Our little Stoshy boy has leukemia. Everything was so surreal then-- it felt like someone else's life.

With the love and support of our friends, family, and Stanley's medical team, we were able to focus on Stanley and take it one day at a time.  We have realized that, while we are BEYOND thankful Stanley has continued to remain in remission, we now have to face a new world with potential life-long, life-altering side effects.  Stanley continues to get stronger each day, and we are grateful for each and every moment. Thank you for supporting Stanley and the more than 300,000 kids worldwide who will be diagnosed with cancer this year. By sharing the gifts of your time, talent and money with the St. Baldrick’s Foundation, you're supporting research to give all kids with cancer a better chance for a cure.
