My Story

Obsidian was born six weeks early, weighing under four pounds. But against all odds, he only needed to gain weight and learn to take from a bottle. 24 days later, he was home and very quickly went from a tiny preemie boy, to the HEALTHY two year old, taller than peers his age and older, and perfect. Just over a month after his second birthday, he became sick with strep. He seemed to recover okay, but just a week later, he had a fever again, and this time, it wouldn't leave for 12 days. Finally, after every swab and test they could think of, blood work gave us an answer. At two years and two months old, our boy was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. Obsidian is in the beginning stages of treatment, undergoing weekly chemotherapy and taking daily medication to keep the Leukemia at bay. He has a long two plus year journey ahead, but he is a fighter and we look forward to the day we can say we have a healthy boy again!
