My Story

Kayleigh was a very outgoing, energetic girl with a strong spirit who loved school and spending time with her friends and family. Prior to being diagnosed, she loved music, dancing, softball, volleyball and cheerleading as well as swimming, tennis and kayaking. She also played violin, flute and was learning to play guitar! She was a member of the MHS Kidette colorguard squad and loved performing! Cancer treatment slowed her down physically and prevented her from participating in some of the sports she loved, but it didn't dampened her spirit. She continued, with the encouragement of her medical team and family, to do the things she loved in life as long as she was able. She was a bright, shining star to all those who knew her. If asked about cancer, she'd say, "Cancer is just something I have to get through. I'm going to get better and the Lord is going to use me and my cancer to help someone else somewhere, someday." Kayleigh hoped to attend college at Vanderbilt or Stanford University medical school to become a Pediatric doctor. She loved science and math and hoped to use them to help other kids someday. She never gave up, she fought and made plans for her future right up to her last day with us here on Earth. A lesson to us all, regardless of what we face.
