My Story

Thank you for supporting me and the more than 300,000 kids worldwide who will be diagnosed with cancer this year. By sharing the gifts of your time, talent and money with the St. Baldrick’s Foundation, you're supporting research to give all kids with cancer a better chance for a cure.  It all started as a typical ear ache. Holly said her ear hurt. Gave it 5 days with ibuprofen and Tylenol since no drainage or fever. There was No improvement. Took her to the dr and she got amoxicillin for ear infection. Got better for about 2 days. Then ear was hurting again and little swelling by her jaw. Drs put her on high dose augmentin (another antibiotic) and said it was a paratoid gland infection. The pain continued so we added steroids to help with the swelling with some improvement. Scheduled an appointment with her ENT since she had ear tubes in the past. I wanted her to have a hearing test done prior to see if fluid behind her ear was affecting her hearing. She had 0% hearing in her right ear. Went to ent who we had seen before for ear pain and fluid behind ear. Was told she maybe had tmj. They said we could wait and continue steroids or schedule an ultrasound I said schedule it. Those results came back and it wasn’t an abcess so they did a Catscan Friday morning I got a call Friday late afternoon to bring her right to the castle for further testing. After biopsy we were told she had rhabdosarcoma. We are currently doing chemo and proton at mayo planned for March 2019. Then we will continue maintenance chemo for a minimum of 42 weeks.  Holly is a fighter! She loves to color ,play basketball, swim, play board games and play dress up!!!!
