My Story

On December 6, 2021, Eli was diagnosed with high risk Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia T CELL. He went into remission on January 18, 2022. Unfortunately, on January 23, 2023, Eli's cancer returned. After months of treatment to get him back in to remission, he was admitted in Boston for transplant in May 2023. Eli had 3 days of brain radiation and 3 days of full body radiation twice a day for 3 days; plus chemo before and after in preparation to receive his new stem cells. Eli’s dad had his stem cells extracted from his bone marrow so they could use them for Eli. They were only a 50% match but there were no other matches found in the data base. Eli’s body had accepted these cells so far and his first Bone Marrow Biopsy looked great. We were just about to go home when Eli got persistent fevers, CDIFF, CMV, Parainfluenza and a detected a fungus in his blood stream. After a bronchoscopy he ended up intubated and in the PICU. Unfortunately after 3 weeks he passed. We will always remember his extraordinary smile, laugh, the strong boy he was and of course his love for Daniel Tiger. We are forever grateful and blessed to have had the opportunity to be his parents. Our kids deserve so much more! Thank you for supporting me and the more than 300,000 kids worldwide who will be diagnosed with cancer this year. By sharing the gifts of your time, talent and money with the St. Baldrick’s Foundation, you're supporting research to give all kids with cancer a better chance for a cure.
