Welcome to the ninth Annual Rockville Centre St Baldrick's celebration!!! We are really looking forward to having a lot of fun this year as we shave our way to a cure.
If you have volunteered, shaved, donated, attended with us last year, welcome back, are we glad to have you!!! If you are visiting us for the first time, you are most welcome. Last year because of all the support we received in Rockville Centre, we were able to raise almost $300,000 for life saving research. In 2011, the St Baldrick's Foundation raised over $28.2M and funded over $21.7M in research. So Thank You seems a bit inadequate.
Unfortunately, cancer does not recede in a recession. Childhood cancer continues to kill more children each year then Aids, Cystic Fibrosis, Juvenile Diabetes and Congenital defects combined. This year over 160,000 children worldwide will be diagnosed with a form of Childhood Cancer. We need to find a cure!
This year we have set our Rockville Centre fund raising goal at $300,000. The overall goal for the St Baldrick's Foundation for 2012 is $30,000,000 worldwide. These funds will be used to fund life saving research, improve treatment protocols and allow more children to have access to clinical trials.
They also directly endow the St Baldrick's Fellowship & Scholar Programs. Together these program fund the training and education of the next generation of Childhood Oncologists. Only the best candidates are selected, ensuring that all children will have caring doctors and research scientists well into the future.
Once again our family-fun event will be held in the St. Agnes Parish Center shortly after the end of the Rockville Centre St. Patrick's Day Parade on March 24th, 2012. If you plan on shaving please convince a friend to join you. If you plan on attending, bring a friend. Please spread the word on St Baldrick's!! We really hope we will see you there.
We will be communicating more details as we get closer to the event. So Please check our site frequently.
We look forward to seeing you there and thank you for your continued support ...
