So my Movember 'stache' turned into an all-out beard which has garnered many interesting stares, comments and has even earned me a few nicknames and 'hey you look like ......' comments.
I've been told I look like the Dos Equis 'Most Interesting Man' (in his younger years), my daughter told me my beard feels like a puppy, a dude at the sandwich shop told me I look like Ben Affleck (in Argo) and in general... that I look just plain HOT!
However, it is with great excitement that I announce that I will be shaving off the beard... and my beautiful dark locks in support of the St. Baldrick's Foundation, a childhood cancer charity. I've supported them in the past with financial contributions but now it's time to step it up!
All of my colleagues know, as do many of you, that I work in healthcare... these days, mostly technology planning for new hospitals. I’ve had the privilege of working at many hospitals across the country and there is something special about the kids you encounter. Rarely do I have the opportunity to talk to them but I can see the spirit of these kids is tremendous!... completely visible in their smiles and determination. The occasions that I encounter these little fighters is what makes all the travel and late hours worth it.
This is my opportunity to bring attention to a foundation dedicated to these little ones fighting their greatest fight against cancers of all kinds.
I want to encourage each of you that read this message to donate something... preferably money... to my goal of raising $3000. From April 1st to May 1st I have set a goal to raise $100 each day… will you help me?!?
My shaving (face and head) will occur during ImpactPalooza (the firm I work for has a sweet company retreat every year) in Scottsdale, AZ on May 3rd.
Thanks for taking the time to read my message… now go donate!
Gratefully,
~Carl
